  • Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS:

MSI, India’s largest car manufacturer, launched Ciaz, a sedan as a replacement for their mid-sized saloon SX4 in the year 2014. In 2015, they modified the car to introduce SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) in it, which made Ciaz the most fuel efficient car of India. The car claimed an impressive mileage of 28.09kmpl and the petrol version boasted of a mileage of 20.73kmpl. The price range of this beauty varies from INR 7 lakhs to 10 lakhs and the petrol version’s price varies from INR 7.5 to 9.9 lakhs.   • Maruti Swift Dzire:

MSI had given their Swift model a facelift in February 2015 to create Swift Dzire. This vehicle comes with a 1.3L DDiS diesel powertrain and a 1.2L petrol powertrain, which has been fine-tuned to deliver a much higher mileage. The claimed fuel efficiency of the former is 26.59kmpl and the latter one yields 20.85kmpl. Maruti Swift Dzire is a highly affordable sedan with its diesel model’s price varying from INR 6 to 9 lakhs and petrol model prices in the range of INR 5 – 7 lakhs.

  • Honda  City:

Honda has always priced their creations to have the best design and performance. Although, in the Indian market, the Japanese automaker introduced the new generation Honda City to be highly fuel efficient as well. The latest model came in 2015 and is still one of the top selling cars in its league. This saloon is available with two engine options – an iDTEC diesel and iVTEC petrol. The fuel efficiency of the diesel model is 26kmpl and the petrol model gives a fuel efficiency of 17.8 kmpl. The prices lie between INR 8 and 12 lakhs.

  • Ford Aspire:

Even Ford didn’t want to stay behind in this growing market of compact sedans. Ford India launched its Aspire, a sub-4 meter sedan in India with three powertrain choices. There is one TDCi diesel manual transition model, offering an ARAI certified mileage of 25.83Kmpl and two Ti-VCT petrol models (one with manual transmission and the other with automatic transmission) with ARAI-certified mileage of 18.16kmpl and 17kmpl respectively. It’s the second cheapest car in this list ranging from INR 5 to 8 lakhs.
