SpeedUpMy.net Shares a Report on the Top Three Countries with Fast Internet Connection

The advent of the internet has exponentially changed the way we think about globalization and the interconnectedness of the world. The internet has since been able to connect various areas of social life that we have always considered to be separate. Now, we have a network of networks. We are joining the private and public spheres, blurring the boundaries between them.

Now more than ever, the internet is something no man can live without. It is a commodity and a fundamental need to have access to the internet nowadays. People need to be connected 24/7 to function correctly in today’s fast-paced world.

That’s why a high-speed internet is a necessity whether at home or work. But, the sad reality is, despite the continual progress and increasing number of developments in our world, only a few countries enjoy a high-speed connection. Most of us are just getting the most basic internet access.

Down below, we have listed the top 3 countries with the fastest internet connection today based on a recent report entitled “Worldwide Broadband Speed League 2018”. Two of the countries hail from Europe, and only one comes from the Asia-Pacific region. The study was a collaboration made by cable.co.uk and M-Lab in partnership with various institutions such as the New America’s Open Technology Institute, Google Open Source Research, Princeton University’s Planet Lab. The data was collected in the 12 months up to 29 May this year, tracking and monitoring 200 countries in total.

Check out the details of the 2018 report below:

  1. Singapore

The top spot was taken by Singapore, the only country from the Asia-Pacific region in the reported list that made it in the top three and the top ten. Singapore thrives on digital infrastructures and a digital economy that’s why they have the advantage when it comes to internet speed. Another advantage they have is there small landmass which allows their digital infrastructure development to grow at a rapid pace. They use FTTP (pure fibre) connections that gets them an average speed of 60.39 Mbps all over the country.

  1. Sweden

Sweden takes the second spot as the report reveals that almost all residential and commercial spaces in Sweden are connected to the internet at anytime of the day. The report indicates that around 60% of homes and businesses can access speed of up to 1 Gbps through FTTP (pure fibre). Their average internet speed is 46 Mbps.

  1. Denmark

Denmark, as a third placer, also use FTTP (pure fibre) connections to get stable internet access. The report details that more than half of the residential and commercial properties in the country are given complete and high-speed internet access. The average connection speed for Denmark is 43.99 Mbps.

These are the countries that have the fastest internet connection in the world. The report also indicated that the global average speed is rising as it saw an increase of 23% from their last year’s study. What is apparent to us is that we are slowly but surely advancing more than ever before. We should all emulate Singapore, Sweden and Denmark so that we could all reach a new height of global progress.
